We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer, IT Operations & Cloud Computing within the Tokio Marine Highland responsible for delivering vital support services to the infrastructure operating environment. This position drives all support aspects of the server environment (hardware and operating system and accompanying storage area networks). This role also manages the corporate data and voice networks ensuring timely support and availability of these services. The Infrastructure Engineer ensures the development, quality assurance, and production environments run smoothly and have the necessary capacity to meet future demand.
The Infrastructure Engineer has the responsibility to ensure service readiness and document reviews are conducted on infrastructure changes. This role is also responsible for the implementation of infrastructure deployment best practices, test strategies, and documentation, as well as assisting in operational planning and projects.
This role is also accountable for IT infrastructure engineering & Cloud Computing Services. The role is responsible for the effective and efficient design and engineering of IT infrastructure used to support all business processes across the enterprise. This individual will have a diversified background of technical infrastructure experience, demonstrated project management acumen, excellent vendor management skills, plus a superior, service-oriented approach to infrastructure engineering. This individual is also responsible for coordination with architecture resources to ensure that quality, efficiency and agility goals are achieved. This role contributes to the development and execution of the infrastructure strategy and ensures its alignment with the enterprise’s IT and business strategy and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve business success.
Responsibilities
Supports the business users and key Tokio Marine Highland initiatives:
- New insurance platforms
- Enterprise applications
- Integration of third-party solutions
- Information management, data warehousing and reporting
- Contributes to a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques
- Works with the architecture team to ensure that the IT infrastructure enables necessary applications and business processes
- Builds and maintains relationships with other IT & Business leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective infrastructure solutions are in place to meet those needs and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities
- Identify, define, measure, and improve key IT operational processes using ITIL and other appropriate best practice benchmarks to improve operational and service delivery effectiveness and efficiency
- Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt and change priorities as the business needs changes
- Participates in the assessment of external and internal infrastructure capabilities required to achieve desired business goals
- Participate in the design of Cloud-based infrastructure solutions working alongside Cloud Architects and service domains (e.g., Web, Database, Storage, Networking, IAM) to ensure that initial and anticipated future business requirements are represented
- Maintains currency on new technologies and platforms, and provides direction on what emerging infrastructure technologies should be introduced, integrated and assimilated within Tokio Marine Highland
- Manages the portfolio of infrastructure assets and services from purchase or adoption through retirement
- Leads IT infrastructure engineering’s involvement in the IT organization’s innovation efforts and its role in experimenting with new solutions to take advantage of business opportunities
- Influences the design and development of IT infrastructure platforms that fulfill the needs of the business
- Supports the Tokio Marine Highland sourcing strategy and provides oversight for infrastructure vendor and partner relationship management
- Serves on IT planning and policymaking committees; drives the development of enterprise technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics to ensure Tokio Marine Highland delivers value to the enterprise
- Analyzes external IT influences such as new technologies, desired changes in technology standards, changes in strategic direction and regulatory requirements to determine their potential impacts on the enterprise and IT operations
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field is required. Master’s degree in Computer Science preferred
Experience
- Minimum of six years of relevant work experience in application architecture, application development, application support and building custom application suites
- Prior experience in the insurance or financial services industry preferred
- Expertise in establishing strong governance with effective processes, procedures, utilizing key IT service management (ITSM) techniques, policies, along with establishing SLA’s, KPIs and other key operational metrics
- Establishing proactive operations, standardization efforts, and appropriate toolsets with automation and orchestration that will transform much of IT operations in all core areas
- In-depth experience in ensuring the optimal management of the system availability, performance, and capacity management proactively for the core infrastructure areas
- Experience in implementing and managing hybrid IT/Cloud deployments, with Strong skill sets, and knowledge with practices and procedures to accommodate hybrid IT operations
- Strong leadership experience in Change, problem and incident management with close focus on minimizing business impact with proven clients/customers management experience
- Strong understanding or experience in leading public cloud (AWS, GCP & Azure) platforms
- Prefer hands-on technologist with a strong desire to delve into details
- Prefer experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
- 3+ years networking and/or hybrid cloud experience (LAN/WAN/SD-WAN/VPN)
